Dear [ your name here ],
I, Denise Sullivan, Dean of Admissions at Knebworth Academy, am pleased to inform you that you have been gratefully accepted into one of the states most .. Well, most .. Unique schools.
As you may have noticed, this letter has been addressed to you and you alone. Not your parents, not your siblings, but to you. The lucky boy / girl who will be one of the few students joining in the new school year. The reason for this you ask?
Here at Knebworth, we not only teach the fundamentals needed for a rise to achievement, but also teach you how to live independently. Given, you can’t be taught how to live your life, and the teachers doing so would defeat the purpose, wouldn’t it? Rather, we give guidance. A starting point you could say. “The person you want to be, does exist; somewhere on the other side of hard work and faith and belief. And beyond the heartache and fear of what lies ahead.”
Now, if I’m giving you the impression that Knebworth is all work and no fun, you are sadly mistaken. While we do have monthly parent-teacher conferences here at the school, your guardians will know nothing of your activities. Another reason why this letter was addressed to you. As most of you young people may choose to put it .. Knebworth is kind of like, an open invitation to the longest, and largest party of the year. Minimal parent interaction, a wide range of ‘extra curricular’ activities and plenty of free time to do what you please .. Within reason, of course. Fewer classes indeed. Although we do have the occasional teacher wandering about, here and there, I, Denise Sullivan, am in full responsibility of each and every one of the students attending our fine school.
At the academy, we believe students should be allowed to creatively express themselves and have plenty of time to do so, well being in clear consideration to boot. Fun and games may seem like our only goal here at Knebworth, but unfortunately, drama and personal issues will still follow you through our doors. Of course, I won’t go into too much detail as to what that means, because surely you will figure it out for yourself. That is, if you choose to venture into our world. I hope to see your presence at Knebworth Academy soon enough.
Sincerely,
Denise Sullivan
Dean of Admissions, Knebworth Academy.
