When Life Hands You an Ugly Office...

[Prof. Hanschen Gabor]

Hanschen stepped into his dark office. He flicked his wand, and all the torches on the walls caught flame, barely illuminating the room. In the flickering light the professor wondered aloud, "How the hell did the last professor see anything in here?" With another wave of his wand the lights intensified, showering light into every corner. "Merlin's Beard! It's no wonder they kept the light so low in here..." Hanschen stared at the dust and dirt. "This will never do! What am I going to do with this mess?" He thought for a moment and then muttered a few quick spells under his breath. The effect was much more aesthetically pleasing. The old and worn out wooden furniture was replaced by new and shiny furniture. The grime and slime that covered the walls was gone. "Much better... Oh, one more thing..." And, with a final wave of his wand a small picture framed appeared on his desk. He sat down behind his desk to look at the picture. "I miss you Otto..."

Tristan brushed the brush through his hair and silently exited the common room. It was a good thing the professors office was close. He wouldn't want to be climbing up stairs this early in the morning.

He yawned as he knocked on the door. "Professor Gabor, It's Tristan Wincott, here for detention sir," he said tiredly. He absolutely hated this.

Professor Gabor had already forgotten that he had Tristan serving detention this morning..."Shit", he muttered.
"Come in!", he shouted as he quickly tried to finish making the room look organized. The door opened just as the last flower in the priceless vase of roses on the desk arranged itself.

"Come sit down here in front of the desk.", Hanschen requested.

Tristan sighed as he pushed open the door and came into the professors office. He was much to tired to look around the room and notice that it was rather nice looking. He did as he was told and sat down in front of the desk. What was he going to do? Lines?

He sighed and waited for Professor Gabor to speak to him again.

Professor Gabor waved his wand at the solid oak filing cabinet in the corner. Papers and files and notebooks came flying out and landed in 8 large piles with a great "harumph" on his new desk which quivered with the force of the blow.

"I need you to go through each of these folders and papers and try to find a paper that says the exact date when I created the improved version of the polyjuice potion. It's in there somewhere... Also, in one of those notebooks is a list of all the pets I have ever had. I can't seem to remember the name of my brother's goldfish... It's driving me nuts... Hop to it..."

Behind the professor's back Tristan gave him a very dirty look. He began shredding through the papers that were in front of him. They looked very boring indeep. He sighed and quickly scanned each one for the one he needed to find.

After a while his hand got tired. He used his other hand and picked up another piece of parchment. Something black caught his attention. He picked it up and examined it only to realize it looked like a man's underware.

He threw the garment at the Professor and cried out. "Professor I really don't wanna do this if I'm going to find things like that," he said pointing at it.

The professor smiled. "I remeber that night... We did a bit more than snogging...", Hanschen muttered softly. "Anyway, I appologize. I didn't realize that is where that went...", Hanschen said suddenly realizing he should be embarrassed. This was just a child after all. "I'd appreciate it if you didn't mention that to anyone... It doesn't look to good for my reputation." Hanschen picked up the underwear and gently folded them and put them in the top left desk drawer. "If you find anything else of interest let me know..."

If Tristan would have had gum in his mouth right now it would have fallen out. A bit more then snogging? Suddenly, he turned bright red, as the color of his hair and eyes. "Er..I er..." he muttered. Something more then snogging? What was more then...

Hold it...think of something else. Get your mind off of that Tristan.

He went back to the stacks of papers and curiosity got the better of him. "Er...Professor? What is it like to get kissed or to kiss someone?" he asked suddenly.

Professor Gabor looked up from the papers he was grading to look at the boy. "Well, it's different for every wizard. I've heard that most muggles when they recieve a passionate kiss, they see fireworks... But a wizard will see so much more than that, I personally see a pink comet shoot across the sky over my favorite place in the world, My home outside Berlin... I felt like nothing in the whole world could ever go wrong. I've only ever felt that great feeling once...With Michael... Well, look at me getting all sentimental." Hanschen pondered for a moment. "What prompted you to ask that question? Thinking of anyone special?"

Another flush flew across Tristan's face. "No no one special at all. I was just wondering is all," he said simply. There was no way he would tell the professor that he might have a crush on Ankit. He wasn't even sure if the professor knew of him.

"So you have someone you love dearly professor?" he asked.

[Prof. Hanschen Gabor]

"Indeed, I grew up with a boy named Michael. He was my best friend and only love. Things have gotten a bit hairy since then...", Hanschen confessed.

Hairy indeed, every full moon. I never really minded though...

"Are you sure there isn't anyone you are pining for. It seems a very odd question to just blurt out..."

Tristan paused as he pulled up a love letter that seemed to be from his 'Michael'. He turned, got up and brought it over to the professor. "I seem to be finding only a bit of embarrassing things in your office professor," he said softly. "Whatever happened to the Michael fellow?" he asked casually.

"Are you sure there isn't anyone you are pining for. It seems a very odd question to just blurt out..."

Maybe he could tell...just not say any name. That would be perfect. A smirk flew across his face as he turned away from the professor. "I might have a crush on some guy I just met in the bathroom not to long ago," he said finally. "Don't ask me who because I'm not going to say," he said with a final note in his voice.

[Prof. Hanschen Gabor]

Hanschen thought for a moment then spoke. "Well, Michael Galati and I fell apart because he contracted a disease in his third year... He couldn't handle how much it was hurting me to see him that way, so he left without saying goodbye..."

Hanschen felt a tear well up in his eye..."I miss him so much..."

Oh, Pull yourself together man. Don't blubber.

He listened to the boy tell him about his crush and then responded. "A boy huh? I wouldn't have pegged you for our team... Well, Princess, if you're not ready to tell me it's Ankit that's fine, but I'm pretty sure that's who you are pretty set on...By the sounds of things, he seems pretty set on you too...Did he tell you we talk?"

God, I hope I am right...

Tristan listened to his story. After a few minutes the Professor spoke again. He froze and felt a bright red blush cover his face. He turned to the Professor with an angry look across his face.

"Mind your own business professor," he sneered at that. He was called a Princess a second time, this time by the professor. Had Ankit told him that is what he hated to be called? He glared feeling that anger weld up as he looked at the Professor.

"Besides I wouldn't be interesting in a snot nosed kid like that,. And Professor I'll tell you this once you listen carefully. Don't call me Princess ever again," he muttered crossing his arms.

[Prof. Hanschen Gabor]

"No, your majesty...", Hanschen said with a chuckle, "I won't call you Princess again... Although I wish you would just be honest with me about this... It'll save you grief in the long run. I have a suspition about that boy... Anyway, back to your duties... Let me know when you find something..."

Professor Gabor thought to himself. I wonder what Michael is doing now... I miss him so much. He is my one true love. It's a shame he left. I wonder if I'll ever see him again.

"I am being honest," he said stiffly. Yep, he shouldn't have even opened his mouth about his crush. He glared as he went back to searching for the papers the Professor needed. He was boiling.

He mumbled to himself and picked up the next paper which had a list of names on it. Pet names to be exact. He rolled his eyes at some of the names and stood up. He handed the paper over to the professor and went back to searching for the date.

[Prof. Hanschen Gabor]

"Fido, Rex, PK (Psycho Kitty), Flash, Oliver, Bo, and Eunice. EUNICE! That's it! God I hated that fish... It always looked at me like I was crazy. Thank goodness it died...", Haschen thought aloud.

"Oh, I almost forgot!", Hanschen said. He plucked a few roses from the vase on the end of the table to give to Tristan in repayment for the rose he had mutilated when he fell on top of him, "I promised you a rose..."

Hanschen extended his hand.

"Watch out for the thorns, I didn't have a chance to de-thorn them..." A few seconds later he said, "Actually have the whole vase worth." And with that, he put the entire vase of roses in Tristan's hands.

Okay..not expecting that but hey...he got a vase full of free roses. He looked at the vase of roses then back at the professor. "Roses won't hurt me," he said as he delicately touched one of the roses. "They may have thorns, but so do people. They are just trying to protect themselves," he said.

He set the vase down and went to work looking for the last paper.

"I have never thought of humans as roses before... Interesting", Hanschen said truly admiring the smarts of this boy. "Do you have thoughts like that often?"

This boy never ceases to amaze me with his mind. He is so very intelligent. It drives me nuts, but he has the Slytherin charm too...

"How goes the searching?"

"You'd be amazed at what you put your mind to. Even opening your mind a little can make you think of things you would have never thought of before," he said. Tristan turned to look at the professor and stood up with a paper in his hand. "I have thoughts like that often, yes. Especially with roses, which is why I was a bit upset that you crushed the rose I had yesturday," he added.

"Here you are professor...the paper you wanted," he said handing it over.

[Prof. Hanschen Gabor]

"Very well, you are free to go.", Professor Gabor stated, "I expect to see you for your next private lesson on Monday...Feel free to bring your boyfrie...I mean Ankit. He told me he wasn't very good in potions, maybe you could give a lecture on how NOT to poison your teacher. Good day, Tristan!" After pushing him out the door, Hanschen sat down behind his desk, a slightly evil thought running through his head.
